Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art, which when translated literally, means foot – hand – art. It is an art of self-defense that aims to develop its practitioners both physically and mentally.
Physically, the practice of Tae Kwon Do is outstanding for improving fitness in children and adults, male or female. Areas improved include flexibility, agility, balance, coordination, endurance, and strength. Constant practice of the art’s techniques and forms develops balance and coordination equally on both sides of the body. Repetition of techniques involving large muscle groups improves endurance and strength.
Mentally, Tae kwon Do concentrates on five areas that are included in the “Tenets of Tae Kwon Do”; Courtesy - Integrity - Perseverance - Self-control - Indomitable Spirit. These five points are stressed throughout the Tae Kwon Do program. Each area in the Tae Kwon Do classroom has a counterpart in the student’s daily life. For young students, courtesy involves treating peers, parents, and teachers with respect. Perseverance is learned for mastering new kicks and punches as well as mastering a difficult subject in school, or a new task on the job. As whole, the “Tenets of Tae Kwon Do” are a guide for learning to respect others and ourselves.

What is Tae Kwon Do?

Tae Kwon Do is a combination of physical and mental training, which produces a confident, physically fit student exhibiting respect for self and others.

Young Dragons

Young Dragons program is a specialized curriculum for children ages 4 to 6. Rather than focusing mostly on kicking and punching, Young Dragons focuses more on basic listening and motor skills that are being developed and improved at this age. Your Young Dragon, along with learning basic Tae Kwon Do skills necessary for the transition into our Junior Tae Kwon Do program, will learn how to approach life with confidence. They will become better listeners both at home and at school, and will learn to interact with other people in a positive and successful manner.

Junior Tae Kwon Do

Our Junior Tae Kwon Do program is designed for ages 7 to 12. Based on the adult syllabus, it's taught from a younger perspective. Traditional Tae Kwon Do technique and application are introduced for a better understanding of self-defense and a keen belief in self for greater esteem. Belt Ranks are implemented and may be achieved through testing for all student belt colors as well as Junior Black Belt status. Traditional Tae Kwon Do; 13 - up
Our Adult classes give the student practitioner all the mental and physical benefits instilled in traditional Tae Kwon Do. Application of technique for self-defense, a more calm spirit, both self-worth and self-appreciation, fitness, a greater appreciation of others, and to the ability to take on the world as a Black Belt!
